CH7 Newbie you actually are doing good. If you keep running it up to the limit and paying it off you will have 2-3K in a year easily.

Wish I would have started off with Platinum just for the rental car insurance alone.

Don't go over the limit, they'll count it against you. I had a 1K limit card and accidentally went over the limit a couple of times but I paid the account in full each month. I called after a year to get an increase and they refused because I went over the limit a couple of time.

    Dam,

    $200.00?

I thought I was doing bad with $500.00.

Oh well, just use it and pay it off and it will increase.

Hi Herman - you are correct. Even though $200 is not much, Cap One will increase it after excellent payments as in your post.

Chap7newbie - Heed Fat Jake's and Herman's advice. Use the card frequently, and pay it frequently via the web, then charge it again.
Most of us started with a low limit. I started with $500 CL, with a $49 deposit.

There are also some old posts here where people got a $50 limit on a KMART Cap One card. BUT, you have to start to build trust somewhere.

    best regards, dogman

WHAT is your NEXT highest card???

When I got my STATE FARM "TOY" CARD...I was able to get it increased to MATCH my next highest limit...(after I closed it)...they made NO effort to keep me till like a few days AFTER I closed the account!!!

80% LOWER THAN MY LOWEST, WAS UNACCEPTABLE!!!

George, are you saying that you "blackmailed" STATE FARM to get a cl increase? Sorry, let me restate that as "graymailed" them?

SOMETHING LIKE THAT...I said I have NO accounts UNDER $5,000!!!!
If you want me to take the card...I MUST have NO LESS THAN $5,000!!!

THEY EVEN SAID THEY MADE AN "ERROR IN JUDGEMENT"!!!

It is interesting that you say this. I have heard from others not on this list that "blackmail" (graymail), if used tactfully, can be very effective in producing results-- obtaining cc approvals, obtaining cc interest rate reductions, obtaining cl increases, obtaining removal of cc late-pays, etc., etc., etc.

But there are others on this list who vigorously state they don't believe such techniques are effective (and may flame this thread).

    THEN I ALSO "BLACK-MAILED" CITIBANK into the 0.00% for 9 months...(BDD)

I basically said that the 0.00% for 9 months is advertised ALL OVER THE PLACE...and that is why I took the card!!!
