I just received my EQ report and Fingerhut has verified again. This is the third time they've verified this chargeoff account. Any suggestions??

Call them. See if they really do have the data accurately. Even if it is accurate, tell the rep that you don't agree with the data and could you please talk to a supervisor. Do tell her/him that it is not bad customer service, you just need to speak to someone higher up.
Tell them your sob story. (Hubby is an alkie... oh the horror of what he has done to the finances... now that hes gone, I am cleaning up my life.) Then offer to pay in exchange for a good tradeline or a deletion. If they agree, ask for fax # to fax the agreements back and forth (speeds things up!)

[I actually paid for and got deleted derrogs on hubbys CR by telling them that he needed a higher score to qualify for an apt and I am trying to throw the bum out, but can't with that score!]

If they won't agree, then start the nutcase series....

    Good Luck

Oh, thank you. I am also trying to get a VA loan, but my scores are too low right now. I seem stuck on the TU and EQ report. I have collections on TU that are being reverified by a "phantom" company...I can't seem to contact them, my mail isn't returned to sender and the faxes go through..they exist, but are ignoring me. What now. I also wanted to comment about the security clearance issue...when it was time for my 15 year reverification, they DID pull my credit report. Could you give me some tips on pulling my scores up in a short time. Thanks.

Depending on how much time you have to qualify, this may be excellent advice. You may need to make an "all-out, at all cost" effort to get these removed. Either by settling the depts(for deletion) or with "great stories"LOL that SCMom suggests. If you have time I would begin the validation process, but maybe start with the 15 day letter(ie: send them a letter every 15 days, until they respond). Make sure these letters get into Exec VP, President, etc... type hands and I'm sure you'll get a response(of some kind).

Maybe you can also email FLA-TAN and ask more specific VA questions. He/She seems to give honest and useful advice. Good Luck, and go GET 'EM!
