SORRY, I HAVE TO VENT SOMEWHERE AND THIS JUST SEEMED LIKE THE PLACE!

I've been at this credit rehab thing since September of 1999. Since then I got the whole deck of subprime cards. Providian, FCNB, Orchard, FNCC, FNB, Spiegel, Dillards etc. A total credit limit of about $28000 on subprime cards. Total balance about $4300. Not a single day late on any of them.

I have an auto loan from about the same time with no lates and just got a mortgate.

I've also had as many baddies as humanly possible deleted but still have a couple that are over 5 years old.

My Beacon FICO is 673, don't know the other two.

Today I finally broke down and applied on line at US Bank for a REAL credit card. Guess what? TURNED DOWN! The only reason that I applied for US Bank is that I've had checking and savings with them for 12 years and have $47,000 on deposit with them. BTW the application never asked if I had any current accounts with US Bank.

I called US Bank and talked to a very nice lady and explained my situation. She said take the rejection letter into the bank and see if they could override it.

Does anybody think this is possible since I have this kind on money in their bank? I don't really need this card but I REALLY want a PRIME CARD.

Of course I think it will work. I would definitely go into the bank and say

"I have had an account with you guys for 12 years. I have XXXXX amount of dollars in my account, and I get turned down for YOUR card? I'm assuming that means that I should withdraw all of my funds and move on to a bank that will appreciate their customers"

I'll bet the bank president or give you that card!

I have a similar plethora of subprime cards... I went for broke and applied for Citibank, very similar EQ scores to yours plus 3 baddies. I was rejected, of course, but after a nice letter via planetfeedback, I was approved for a Citi card. Just a thought... it might work for you as well.

Same dilemma...tons of sotre and sub primes...same score, couple of baddies...can't get approved. Thinking of going through bofa and trying to talk to robin...but, then again, might wait a bit. I dunno...hate being subprime...just sounds so inferior, lol. Now, just trying to refi car loan that is at 23%! yeah, yeah, I know!

I was just ragging on you a bit. Nothing personal... its all in fun. Seems everytime someone says something that isn't "grammarly correct" you always have a way of bringing it to their attention... myself included.

    Hi Mike,

I know what I would do.

Go to the branch manager and tell him, give me a card or close my account. Write me a cashiers check RIGHT NOW for $47,000.

    Truly that simple.

When faced with such astonishing simplicity even a monkey usually makes the right decision.

But of course, you'll want to be a super nice guy about it. Like, "I've worked very hard to build a relationship with this bank. If this is what I get I have NO CHOICE but to attempt to rebuild with someone else. I've always liked you guy's but it's merely a business decision, nothing personal." Also, have a current copy of your CR in hand, preferably the one they pulled.

If it's a female, bat your eyelashes. :)

Naturally, don't do this unless you're prepared for the worst, but I really think you'll get your way with this.

Edit: I see that HW already covered it. That's what I get for not reading the whole thread before I reply. LOL Definately see the right person, IN person.

actually you can be very coy, just write a note that says give me $47000, then walk up to the teller and slip the note to them.

You will be suprised they will just give you the cash!!

    Hi Butch,

I will try your advice when the rejection letter arrives. I still don't have high hopes as $47,000 means ALOT more to me than it does to US Bank.

I do have an account at a credit union but they don't issue Visa or MC they just have a line of credit that works with your Visa debit check card. I wonder how this would report to the CRA's?

If you wrote "account # is [insert valid account # here]" on the back, I wonder if they could prosecute?
Oh, and by the way, I work in bank security. The odds that the teller you walk up to has $47K in her drawer are 0.0%.
Now the ATM, that's another story...
