This is my first post. I had an account with Burdines department store. Do anyone know if they service their own credit cards? Or how would I find out? I had sent them a settlement/restrictive agreement letter (that was before I started reading this board). The response was (with typos included): Dear XXXXX: Thank you for your recent inquiry. Plea e be assured that we will be responding to your inquiry as quickly as possi le. This letter is merely an interim repsonse until our research is comple e. We appreciate your patience in this matter. If we may be of further assistance, or you have any additional information that may b pertinent to your inquiry, please feel free to contact us at XXXXXXXX. Sincerely, Legal Compliance Recovery department THE Burdines card is issued by FDS bank. Should I now send the validation letter (now that I know better)? I know this is my debt it is due to come off in 2004. It is listed for the original balance owed which makes me think it is the original creditor (Burdines). Any input would be appreciated.
I think you are making a good move, had a similiar situation, unfortunately, I paid it before I found this board and did negotiate for a deletion, but what they are good at is opening a new account for full payment to help you reestablish with them and they did remove the old account from my file, so from my experience they were fair. But if you are able to negotiate payment for deletion go for it! Good Luck! Cypri
Thanks, Breeze! Cyprigirl When they opened the new account did they delete the old one or did they just keep the old collection on your credit report in addition to the new account? How long do you think I should I wait until they reply? Should I wait 30 days and they send a validation letter?
