I was checking out the idea of getting a business credit card (my DH owns his insurance agency), so we already have a tax id & a duns number. I spoke to D&B today and they showed me how to look our account up online. We have 2 reporting, all good. I called BOA and was told that I would need to apply thru our D&B number PLUS our soc. sec. number. I was told the same thing thru ADVANTA. I thought the whole idea of these cards would be that they WOULDN"T see our personal credit history and it wouldn't be reported on us. Any cards that use your DUNS number only?
I'm in a similiar sitution where my personal report is a mess so I set up a corp. to bypass it. I've read here that some of the office supply stores like Staples will not check your personal report. The manager of my bank told me that until you get a high Paydex score they will look at your personal report. Paydex is like Fico. A good Paydex is around 60 or better. I've been told because of all the loan losses in the 80's from business accounts the banks have gotten picky about who is running the business.
Business cards that are issued by banks almost always check your personal credit history but they don't report to your individual file unless you default. They also require a personal guarantee.
