What is the status of your Exxon/Mobil application?

Don't have an answer yet. I didn't see a link to check status either on Exxon/Mobil.

Banks rate accounts such as low - med - high then goes from 3 - 4 - 5 and so on. For example.. a med 3 might be 2500 - 5000 in an account on average.

    Dun and Bradstreet

I talked with Dun and Bradstreet a few days ago regarding building business credit. She told me places like Staples and American Express report automatically but places like Capital One business cards don't. Most places who offer business visa and MasterCard's don't report to their services.

She also said if you request any creditor to report, they have to be a current member of Dun and Bradstreet with other creditors reporting to their report. As long as they have a Duns number with creditors reporting then they can report to your credit.

    Kev,

Exxon/Mobil turned me down saying not enough bus. credit. They offered me a secured card though. Just for kicks I'm gonna call them and see what the terms are.

Some if my accounts have DNB numbers so I'm gonna see if they'll report for me.

What sort of accounts do you have reporting to D&B? How about Experian Business Report?

I have a Staples account and an American Express Business Gold card. Neither of them are reporting yet. I am thinking about applying for a Wells Fargo Business Secured Mastercard.

See if Wells Fargo reports. I've heard that vendors report to DNB and banks don't.

I was gonna do a secured bus. loan from my bank and found out they don't report. So I didn't accept the loan.

    Business Credit

Yesterday I spoke with Wells Fargo Bank. They offer a secured Business MasterCard. They report their business MasterCard's to Dun and Bradstreet. They report quarterly. Also they do NOT report their business MasterCard accounts to any personal credit bureau reports.

I spoke with Fed Ex. They report all their accounts to Dun and Bradstreet.

I spoke with DHL - Airborne. They report all their accounts to Dun and Bradstreet.

I spoke with Staples. They report all their accounts to Dun and Bradstreet. Initially they report all their new accounts after six months, then quarterly thereafter.

American Express reports their Business Card(s) to Dun and Bradstreet.

I spoke with Exxon regarding their secured business card. This card is only available if they offer the product after declining your regular business card application. They said they can accept any amount on deposit and will return any deposit pending good payment history after twelve months. Also they will not accept any additional deposits once the initial deposit is made. (i.e. you start out with $500 and in 3 months you want to increase to $1500.) You will be stuck with your initial deposit for one full year.

I also spoke with Bank of America. They do NOT report their Business visa accounts to Dun and Bradstreet. Although they do report their accounts to the personal credit bureau.

    I hope all this helps.

    I now have:

American Express Business Gold Card, 03/2004, Staples 03/2004, Federal Express 06/2004, and an equipment lease through ELEASE 06/2004. All items report to D&B.

Later this month I am applying for a Wells Fargo Secured Business MasterCard and an ExxonMobil Secured Business Card.

I figure by year end I will have a decent pay dex score. Once I have had my Amex Business Gold Card for six months I will apply for Blue for Business. I'm charging about $2,000 monthly on Amex.

A friend of mine applied for Dell Business Lease with a BK-7 on her record just shy of 7 years with six other paid collection items. She was approved for $7,500 with very good terms! (better then my terms with Dell) Her score on Experian is about 640.

    Re: Business Credit

I looked on the Home Depot web site regarding their business credit card accounts. Home Depot requires you be in business for two years without a personal guarantee.

I also looked on Sams Club - A division of Wal Mart. They require you be in business for three years without a personal guarantee.

Funny thing is both companies extend their business cards through GE Capital.
