WOW! Thank you sooooooooooo much for this thread! I just called and found out that 2 of the 3 agencies on my report are not bonded in Texas. Now I can go to work on them from that angle.

Why do I have to be the "unlucky" one? All of my collection accounts ARE bonded and in good standing. hmmm but they all have bad raps with the BBB..go figure.

My TCI Collection company was bonded when I had the collection item.

Oh well, Validation letter has been sent. Time to see if that works :)

Well I went to Lawdog and checked for Georgia. I find that they do not have to register with the state but they do have to be bonded ($50,000). I called the Govenor's Office of Consumer Affairs..they xferrd me to the Insurance office (no luck) No one seems to know where to call to verify bond. Any takres on this?

I began by calling Consumer Credit Commissioner
I found it in the blue pages of my phone book-under Govt offices State. They then referred me to the secretary of state. In my state they don't have to be "registered". It was explained that the c/a has to have a 10,000 bond and a copy of it on file at the SOS's office. She did a look up for me when I gave her the names of the c/a's. Be sure to ask if this applies to c/a's that are out of state and trying to collect, because c/a's still have to have a bond in this state.
I think you should be able to type in ATTorney General's Office for your state and they should have the Number to call on the website!!! Ours at least has contact info for the CCC!!! Good Luck!
