What's the best way to get a C1 credit line increase? I've had my account for about 7 months with no late payments.

Can I ask for one online?

Can I ask for one online?----->NO

Call the phone number on the back of the card...FIRST get balance...payments...etc...THEN "FOR A CREDIT LIMIT INCREASE...PRESS ONE "I THINK"

If approved...the computer will say your new limit...

    Rats!!! Rejected.

Was told I have to wait 9 months before they would consider a CLI.

I think its actually rather arbitrary. I was told 6 months by the computer so tried at 6 months, denied - was told I needed 9 months. Tried at 9 months, denied and was told I needed 12 months. LOL I usually paid the card off in full but I did carry a balance a couple of months. I got annoyed by the incosistent information so called and closed...they offered me a $100 CLI to keep it open...pfft! hehe

That's just been my luck with them...good luck to you @ 9 months! :)

I have 2 cap 1 accounts a toy card and the no Hassle. All I could get was $200 on the toy card and retention told me well you deserve more etc... But no more and they knew I had called the automated line and declined the increase.
To their credit they did reduce my APR still a sock drawer card, but I feel better about it.
Had my Platinum no hassle tried at 6 months said no tried at 9 months said no.
So when it was 1 year old I PFB and about 3 weeks later Mr. Cooke doubled my limit APR was already at 8.9% so he could not go lower.
So I am a believer that in cap 1's case for quality service a PFB is the way to go.

Does anyone have a high CL with Cap1? In all my time on this board, all I've ever heard are complaints about the low limits Cap1 gives, even from people with good credit. What's really their game?

Didn't Cap 1 start out as subprime card? Maybe old habits are hard to break.

If they decline me at 9 months, I'm cancelling. They'll have to put those monthly inquires on someone else's credit report.

Those 'monthly inquiries' are all soft. So they don't affect your score.

I have $5500 starting from a low limit of $500 in July 2000...my mother has the No Hassle Visa Platinum with a limit of $11500...I guess those are both high
