CA bonded last Friday!

    I posted last week about a company trying to collect a debt from me. Have letter dated 8/07/03. called today and found out they are now bonded as of 8/22/03!
    Anything I can do about this?
    ps - i'm in texas

    You can REFUSE IT...BUT they will just do it again because they are "NOW" bonded

    (NOT A CA EXPERT)

    There's a bona fide error defense in Texas.

    They can CLAIM that the mailing of the letter before they were bonded was AN ERROR!!!

    That is what the bona fide answer defense means...

    In other words, since they are now bonded, they can wiggle out of the collection activity before they were bonded; by just saying... "Ooops, we made a mistake."

    Validate as normal.

    Right, and sense they got bonded just this past Friday, its probably been in the works.

    Your honor - we thought we had met the parameters for bonding - we didn't realize the state didn't have record of it blah blah blah
