Again, as I try and catch up on the other thread I've started, I've searched this before asking but either missed the post OR it just doesn't exist.

I had a message left from a CA and when I phoned them back (only to get the mailing addy to dispute it) I was originally placed on hold, then a "body" came on the phone and asked my name (gave it), asked me when I was sending the $$$$ (which I ignored) but never ever once in the recording or during the live conversation stated that they were a debt collector or that any info stated could be used to assist in collecting the debt (or however that speel goes).

    1. Don't they have to state this info?

    2. In my letter of validation, do I mention it?

    TIA

They have to send you a letter in 5 days, saying that they are a debt collector, that you can dispute, etc.

Hi ontrack. Well they stated that they didn't have to send me anything because they already have and since it didn't get returned, I MUST have received it. When I wrote down what she said, she got angry, stated I w3as misquoting her (but no, she won't resend) and then "discontinued" her communication with me telling me she's seek legal means against me.

So no disclosure will be coming.

If you got a phone number, you can do a reverse phone number listing with AnyWho www.anywho.com

Or if you got their name, you may be able to get their address through the BBB www.bbb.org

If neither of those work, there are some other places to look for the information, but those are the best bets to start with.
