My dad called me today to let me know that a guy called about some outstanding medical bills of mine. Not only did he identify the OC, he gave VERY SPECIFIC details regarding the amounts due and dates incurred. He also discussed settlement. Needless to say, I was slightly pissed off that this ***hole gave my dad all of this info. Especially since my home address, phone number and employment information has not changed since the debts were incurred. So, there is no way that he can claim that he was trying to gather information to locate me. I would appreciate advice on the best way to handle this situation and use it to my benefit. BTW, I have medical insurance and know that the OC was paid 80% by them. Thanks!
Hi NovrRheads, Welcome to the board. The most important thing which needs to be done TOMORROW, is to have dad write out the entire conversation, word for word, in "he said, I said" fashion. Do this immediately while it's fresh in his mind and date it for the date and time of the phone call. An instimatic snap shot of the caller id with a number wouldn't hurt either. To make it easy for dad, you may want to write it all out for him and ask him to make sure it's an accurate refelection of the conversation. When the time is right, you may need to reduce this to an affidavit. Is this the OC or a CA? ???
I assume you have your statements from your insurer explaining what they paid. I also assume you got bills from the MP. We need to know some basics. How much? When the debt was incurred, and did you make any payments on it? If so when was the last one? What state you're in. Etc. ???
There are multiple debts to the same hospital. The dates range from 1999-2001. I can't find itemized statements from the hospital or insurance company. I do have all of the account information from the extremely helpful CA and from my credit report. This guy represents a CA not the OC. Thanks!
I am in Texas. The total debt is $1,063 and no, I never made a payment. These are all related to the births of my children.
