I got letter from ABC Collections today that says if I believe that my account listed with them is fraudulent then I need to proceed with filing a police report and send them copies of said report before they will agree to stop collection and stop reporting.
Has anyone else heard of this??

If you believe your account with them is fraudulent, I have an easier way to take care of it.

Instead of filing a report with the police, file a summons with your local small claims court.

Did you dispute the account as not yours, or as fraudulent? Did you request validation from them, and did they provide any?

This is a company I told over the phone that the account wasn't mine before I hung up with them. This was before I found this board so I didn't know any better heh. Once I have my old addresses off my CRs I will be sending them a DV letter.

You can go ahead and send the CA a validation letter now. You get the addresses off the credit reports before you dispute with the CRAs.
