CA in violation?

Is a CA allowed to try and collect while you have a validation request in with one or more of the CRAs? I know they can not try to collect when you have disputed directly with the CA, but what about when you have not contacted them personally?

I sent a validation request to Exp and TU (both received Jan 15). I have not heard back from either of them (and according to the Exp website the account dispute is still in progress). Today I got a standard collection letter in the mail from the CA in question.

    Violation??

I hope you just have your terms mixed up, because you send the validation letters to the ca not the cra. The cra gets the dispute letter. If you sent a validation letter to the cra, nothing is going to happen. And, if you dispute with the cra, they notify the ca, but they can still continue to attempt to collect because you have not asked them to validate it.

Sorry...I always forget which is which. Yes, I sent the CRA a dipute for the account as "not mine." I have not heard from the CRAs, but I assume it will come back verified. I have not heard from this CA in years, and just got a letter today.

So my next step is to send a validation letter to the CA...
