Just pulled my TU report via WK and noticed a new CA account on there. This one REALLY burns me! Here's the background: May of last year my daughter needed a root canal. Got a referral from our dentist (we have an HMO like dental plan) to an endo in the area. The ins. co had NO endontists within 25 miles in their plan so we were allowed to go to someone local and they would pay 80% of the bill. Had the root canal done and paid my 20%. Didn't think much of it, we've moved since then. 2 months ago I received a demand notice from a CA regarding the unpaid 80% portion of the endo bill. I immediately called my insurance co and let them have it. Warned them if a negative was placed on my CR I'd let them have it. Rep swore up and down it'd be paid that day- apparently they just automatically declined to pay because the endo wasn't in their plan- well duh! The closest one was 58 miles away! She supposedly faxed over proof of payment to the CA and endo's office. Few weeks ago I rec'd a call from the CA stating that the bill still hasn't been paid. I called the ins co and they swore they were working on it- just waiting on some more infomation from the endo's office. Now, today a CA account on my TU report. Will probably show up on the other 2 soon enough. Do I have any recourse here? This stupid ins. co swore up and down it would be paid, don't worry about it yada yada. Now I'm going to have to fight these bastards to get this off! I realize that even though I have ins. I am still responsible for the bill but WTH? Why am I paying an insurace premium? They are not providing the service I am paying for!
