A new posting is showing on DH report. It shows a collection agency A-1 iwth the client Yapa Valley Medical Center. It shows the original bill at $300.00 with a balance of $125.00 from 2000. After much thinking we remembered that while on vacation, DH went to the ER for a scratched eye. My insurance was EXTREMELY slow in paying. We moved in Nov 2000 and our forwarding order has expired. I guess the hospital didn't try to find us to bill us for the balance after the ins. payment. They just now placed it with a CA. We have heard nothing from them, because they obviously don't have our correct address. Should I dispute this for him as NOT MINE or what? I would have gladly paid the hospital if I had received the bill. Now, I know NOT to pay the collection agency without promise from deletion. My question is this, should I contact the CA or should I just dispute with CRA?
Butch you are being cryptic again! Its the Fair Credit Billing Act. (I reread your post and see where he's coming from). You can read the act at www.fdic.gov. Make plenty of time, its not a fun read! Maybe Butch will come back and post the link to his med collection issue where he used FCBA. I'm shooting from the hip here, but if I recall, he was never sent a statement for a med bill for the Lovely (or was it Foxy?) Mrs. Butch, and when he finally did get the bill he wrote them a letter--ad libbing: It took you a gazillion days to send me the bill, and according to the FCBA I now have a gazillion days in which to remit full payment. At the end of that gazillion days the SOL will be way up by about a bazillion days, so go pound sand.
