I sent a validation request to a paid collection and have not yet received the green card back. Friday I recieved a pink USPS slip saying I had a Certified letter from this same CA. Should I ignore it or pick it up at the post office?
Are you sure it is not yours being returned to you? Our PO will let me look at a letter to determine if I want to pick it up. Also, I think the pink slip has the receipt number on it. Check it against your records to see if it is the one you sent.
I don't think so it had the CA's name on it and it was an Attempted to Deliver notice. Like the one's that UPS leaves when you are not home.
right, they will leave an attempted to deliver notice if the CRRR letter was returned. I had this happen once to me ... the other poster has a good idea -- check the number on the pink attempt to deliver and see if it doesn't match the number of your green card receipt. peace, delilah
Yeah that makes sense. I had had a CRRR returned to me before due to lack of enough postage and it was returned in the original envelope in the mail normally. No need to sign. I will look at the slip when I get home but I am pretty sure they were trying to get a signature from me for something from this CA. If this is the case, should I go sign for it or just ignore it? Can they try to say that they attempted to validate but I didn't accept the response? Fletch.
Don't put the cart before the horse LOL! If it is NOT your letter being returned, go to the USPS site and see when they did deliver your letter. Remember, they have to go to the OC to get validation documentation - nothing from their computers is acceptable. IMHO they would be hard put to get validation from the OC, and get it to you before your green card gets back. But then, how long ago did your certified mail go out?
I dont get the left hand thing... I just sent it last week. I wouldn't think they could get validation and return it to me that fast, unless they had something already. I don't know. Wierd. This has been on my credit report for 5 years. I paid it back then before the benefit of this site and they steadfastly refused to delete anything, telling me it was illegal to do so. Back then I thought it would be better to have paid it then not. How idiotic that it isn't!!! So, do you think I should just ignore it"? If they want to respond to my request they can do so via regular mail. Fletch.
what cannoda means is sometimes they can get a copy of your signature and transcribe it on to an agreement or other document. Using your other hand is NOT your real signature!!
Re: Re: CA Sent CRRR, what do now See, you are panicking before its time! Tell us tonight or tomorrow if it is from them. Besides that, since you already paid it, the worst it could probably be is "go pound sand we ain't removing!"
Re: Re: CA Sent CRRR, what do now If they try to doctor up something with your signature, they might have a hard time explaining how the signature doesn't seem to match your signature on any document except for the CRRR receipt.
Re: Re: CA Sent CRRR, what do now Have your agent (friend or relative) pick up the letter. They sign for it, not you.
Re: Re: CA Sent CRRR, what do now I checked it last night and it is from them to me. Crazy. This company JJ Marshall, INC is full of a**holes on some high horse, what makes them think it is justifiable to f*** up some one's credit for 7 years, causing 4-5 point differences in mortgages over some little $200 bill that was paid? I want to catch them on some violations and then stick it to them in court for 1K each. They did not mark any of my credit reports disputed. Also, they changed the date on Exp. Another thing, before I denied with the 3 bureaus I removed all my old addresses and names. They didn't have my new address nor my married name. How did they validate??? I am not picking up the CRRR. It is their responsibility to validate to me they can send it regular mail. When the 30 days are up I will send one more request emphasizing my fax number. fletch.
Re: Re: CA Sent CRRR, what do now Thanks for the clarification on the left hand thing. I can't believe someone would sink so low. Who are these people? fletch.
Re: Re: Re: CA Sent CRRR, what do now You may want to rethink that. When they get that letter back, they could use that as proof of their attempt to respond to you. Just like we protect ourselves using CRRRR, they are doing the same. Its just my humble opinion, but it might not look good for you, if it went to court.
Re: Re: Re: CA Sent CRRR, what do now Well S*** , Okay. You are probably right. I will go pick it up. What a pain. I will post what was there tomorrow as I have to pick it up in the morning. Actually now that I think about it, it may be too late. I'll let you know. fletch.
Re: Re: Re: CA Sent CRRR, what do now I went to the post office this morning and the letter had already been sent back. I am not sure what to do now. I'll have to wait and then send another request for verification. Any ideas? Fletch.
Re: Re: Re: Re: CA Sent CRRR, what Yes but it is for a paid debt, what are they going to do, sue you for an paid past SOL debt? If I requested validation from a company, and they sent me a CRRR letter, I would probably not get around to picking it up, I work monday throgh friday, nowhere near my post office, and have more important things to do on a saturday morning than to go to the post office to pick up something that I never asked to have sent with signature required. Since they're a business, you can make the assumption if your CRRR was returned that they refused it, but if you go to court and it's brought up that you didn't accept a CRRR "I was busy, I work every day of the week, and I had a family event that had been planned for months on the saturday after I got my notice. When I got to the post office a week later, it had been sent back" Since CA's aren't run by the sharpest tools in the shed, they'll probably open it up removing the ability to proove that it contained anything. The amount of time that past from the CRRR getting to the CA and the letter being sent is definitly not enough time to have gotten information on a 5 year old paid debt. Just my thoughts. I say, when 30 days have past, send the second request for validation, then collect all your info to sue. Oh, did you ever get your green slip back? ChrisB
Re: Re: Re: Re: CA Sent CRRR, what I'd also be interested what you find out about this. I'm getting ready to deal with JJ Marshal myself over an $86 returned check from 3 years ago.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: CA Sent CRRR, what I agree what a pain in the butt. I still have not received the green card back!!!
