CA showing on report

I posted this on another board but received no response.

A few months ago I received a dunning letter representing an alleged debt owed to CACH. CACH was listed as the "creditor." The letter came from an out-of-state attorney's office. I DV'd them and requested verification and name/address of original creditor. After approximately 60 days with no response, CACH is reporting a collection for an "alleged" BOA account to my credit reports. I have never heard from CACH nor did I ever hear from the out-of-state legal offices.

The reports do say that the account is under dispute. It appears that the original alleged debt was due to a BOA account, although I have never received any DV documentation to back this up.

After an exahustive search, it does not appear that CACH is registered to collect debts (a requirement) or do any other business in my state (also a requirement.) I attempted to call the number listed on my credit report (with recorder operating) but continue to get 20 - 30 minutes of "no agent is currently available."

Any thoughts as to how I should handle this? I've created a snapshot of my credit report listing these folks in the collections section and will send this to my state division of consumer finance.

Something appears very strange with how this company (CACH) seems to be attempting to collect on "alleged debt." Any thoughts?

Should I continue to contact them and ask for written documentation? I'm also sending a certified letter to the address listed on my credit report telling them to provide DV.

    Thanks in advance.
