I sent a validation letter on 8/15 to a CA, or at least they signed for it on 8/15.
I disputed the item with CSC/Equifax when I sent the validation letter out to them.
just yesterday, they 'verified' it and raised the amount which they claim I owe to 5100 bux.
The original account fell off my report a few months back because it was more than 7 years old.

They are showing a DOL of 10/1997, when it should be no later than 4/95

What should I do here? wait until 9/15 for them to validate or not validate?

Havent they violated the FCRA by not placing the account in dispute AND also by updating it after they've recieved my validation letter?

Is the 'date reported' later than the date they received the validation letter?

How long have they been reporting? How often do they update? If the reported balance has remained the same up until the validation letter, that's definitely punitive.

they were assigned the account 2/2002
they havent changed the amount until now.

they recieved my dispute 8/15 and they updated the amount 9/2002 (yesterday to be precise)

    looking for advice.
should I send another validation letter after the 15th (sunday), or go ahead and tell them about how they've violated the FCRA and request immediate deletion?
things they've done wrong so far that I've caught are:
    1. updating my credit report with a new, higher amount owed (they did this after I disputed the account last month, they had already recieved the validation letter at that point)
    2. not placing their tradeline in a disputed state (again, I disputed it myself after they recieved the validation letter and they 'verified' the account plus up'd the amounts owed)
    3. reporting incorrect/inaccurate information..the amounts and the dates are wrong..the account is more than 7 years old.

thanks for any info that can be provided.

I found a really good letter on here, that I modified and added to. I can't remember who originally posted it, but it was in the last week. LKH maybe??? Anyway, it's a form of the estoppel, giving them 15 days to validate or delete. I just mailed out 2, so I have my fingers crossed! I'll try to find it for you

they also never responded to my validation request, which i guess is a violation.
when I decide on an estoppel letter, who should I send it to? the same address I sent the validation letter?

also, if I should have to sue them..where would I have to file? Im in Texas, they are in Florida..I have been in Texas my entire life and lived here when the original debt they are inaccurately reporting was obtained.
    thanks...
