How could we have the same credit history when I just graduated from college 9 years ago? George has had credit for 28 years!

My new credit is basically 2 years old.

Why would I lie? Go back and check my old posts. I have nothing to lie about.

Are you serious? Didn't you read J. Vick's response to you in the other thread? Something about your limits being too high? Are you really comparing your credit history of 28 years to my 2?

Please remember that all of my negative credit is now past history and the CRA's are now reporting my history as 2-3 years of paying on time.

I really wouldn't suggest using your old last name. Anything to make it harder for the CA to validate. I have my maiden name on some accounts, but I'm using my married last name on all of my DV letters. If they start to call you, send them a C&D and communicate with them in writting only.

Grow up, people! Don't you have anything better to do than get your panties in a bundle over different approaches to a common problem?

OK, after reading all 26 post, only 4 of those post were actually suggestions pertaining to my question. Does anyone else have an opinion on which name should be used?

The account they are trying to collect on is 10 years old. The SOL has expired in the state the debt originated in, also the SOL has expired in my current state.

    So...sign the letter how?

I only have a few short weeks before I need to send off my letter.

    Suggestions PLEASE. THanks.

I thought that when a CA reports to the credit bureaus it updates yur report with any information they have? If they are using your "old" name, then both your old name and current name should be showing up on your report.

I am pretty sure of this because I used a alias 7 years ago when attempting to apply for credit - but I used my correct SSN# (I didn't know any better) of course my app was rejected but the credit bureau immediately added that alias to my report as 'aka xxxxxxxxxx'.

I recently called the bureaus and asked them to delete my alias and they did =)

Sorry George, I didn't realize this post was directed at me. Without getting too specific (yes, I'm paranoid) I have a car loan paid on time going on 4 years, a Cap 1 card - secured with a limit of less than $1000, paid on time, showing a zero balance and a prime card also showing a zero balance. If you count my car, I have had good credit for almost 4 years. Without my car, my credit is a little over 2 years old (after the negs were deleted from my reports at 7 years).

I don't know why you say my scores means nothing. I'm about to buy a home, I have a nice car, I am eligible for prime cards & everything that good credit brings.

Why would you say that means nothing?

The 781 is recent because I disputed an incorrect 30 days, 3 times late neg posted for my car loan. It was a definite error as I have never been late and the banker agreed but Equifax verified it anyway.

Well the bank said 'don't worry' and they were correcting it and when Equifax deleted that error my scores jumped almost 90 points! It was so exciting! =)

Giving WRONG advice could really damage someoneâ??s chances of getting their credit cleared up. This is NOT a subject that should be taken lightly!

Donâ??t sign your name on the letter TYPE it!

Why would you give them ANY other information then what they already have?

There really is NO debate on this matter whatever they have your name listed as use that to end your letter.

The fact is if they pulled your credit file and your new name is on there then they already know it.

You stil haven't explained what is so wrong with allowing the baddies to fall off my report after 7 years and starting over fresh.

Who said anything about the CA pulling her report?
As far as I know the CA has NOT pulled the OP report so there would be NO need to give them any additional information.

If they DO pull her report and get her current info the fact that she used the SAME information that the CA had already provided her (name) will NOT make a difference!

Come on everybody already knows the GARBAGE that you have posted. Donâ??t try and act like all you said was â??negative tradelines come off in seven yearsâ? and I jumped all over you. It goes WAY beyond that and you know it!

I am done trying to TEACH you the correct way to clean up credit reports but I will call you on the WRONG information that you will continue to post (unless you get a clue and READ some of the great information on this board)

She said she would pull her report to see if they added anything. Let's assume they added her account, won't they then see her new name?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: CA used old last name?

The question from the OP was if she should continue to use the SAME name that the CA was using. The answer is YES!!!

If they pull her reports and see her "new" name it makes NO difference!

If they are trying to collect the debt they are still going to try and get paid. If she is going to fight the debt she still can. NO MATTER WHAT NAME IS USED!

You are trying to make this a much bigger issue then what it really is. There should be NO debate. Use the name they gave you until you (op) decide that using your current name with this CA will not harm your situation any further and thatâ??s that.

I do understand that somebody who has NEVER written a letter to dispute or question debts would not understand what I am trying to say.

What "Garbage" do you mean? Ok, I will recap what I said and tell me if I left anything out. I said:

    • I did not repay my debts
    • I moved and changed my number (not to avoid being served but circumstances being what they were, it happened that way)
    • I waited 7 years for those bad debts to fall off my report
    • I was approved for a subprime car loan while I waited (my FICO was in the mid 400's)
    • The debts finally fell off after 7 years
    • I was approved for a Cap 1 card with a limit less than $1000 which is current and carries a zero balance
    • My car loan is almost 4 years old and paid as agreed

    Is there anything I missed?

But my reports are already clear now. What is there to teach me? I am now paying my new credit as agreed.

    Please don't get upset.

Well, if it makes no difference, why is the OP concerned with what name she uses?
