In no way should you EVER answer this type of letter from a CA if they have not provided validation. You have a LEGAL right to request these identifying documents and they have a LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY to provide them to you once you request it. If they have not provided them, they are attempting collection illegally and can no longer report the information on your credit file.

When they send this kind of letter they are really telling you that they can't validate.
You just have to be smart enough to be able to read between the lines.
Upon reciving such a letter from a ca it's time to demand the listing be removed from your reports.or you can just continue the validation process and nail them with a suit in the end.

What you do with this is connect the clock to a time bomb for them.

First of all, there was no needling. Get over yourself. Secondly, I don't read every single post every single day. Where did I call you a moron?

Excuse me for not realizing that in 2 months and 68 posts, that you know it all. Is it really that awful that I just wanted to make sure a person who hasn't been here that long knew something?

    Your statement

"Mmmmm.....6 day to estoppel. I can't tell you how nervous I am every day when I check the mail! Please no validation!!! (although I am VERY certain that there is none, given the amount they are trying to collect)" read to me like you thought there might be some sort of deadline.

So, if I prevent someone from making a claim that a ca didn't validate within the time limits, is that so damn wrong?

Excuse me for trying to help.

Nope. Very kind and thoughtful in fact. Much appreciated over here. He just sounds excited. Must be nice.

    Thanks for the clarifications,

    LKH,

I understand your concern for the newbs and wanted to thank you for your concern and apoligize for jumping on you.

That said, upon review of my CRs, MCM has removed the account from TU and EXP. Equifax to follow, I'm sure. If not....

I got the very same thing for an account on hubby's CR. This was a paid settlement from 4 years ago, but I figured I would DV them to see what happens. They are only on one report, but they somehow manage to verify with EXP all the time. When I read the letter I just about fell out of my chair cause I was laughing so hard. Yeah, I'll send you my SSN, DL, a written dispute with a sig (what was wrong with the first letter?...Oh, wait, not sig), a copy of my CR. What a bunch of morons. My next step is sending a 2nd DV as well as an SOL combo.
