I just got off the phone with the California AG. Unfortunately, CA's don't have to be licensed or bonded here.

Guess, we'll have to figures something else out. Anyone have any ideas?

What about the state they are collecting in?

I'm not sure I understand. If they are collecting a debt in California they don't have to be licensed or bonded.

What I am saying is if they are located in CA.that don't mean that they are legal to collect from some one living in say Md.

That's true, but I live in California. I was just checking if they have to be licensed and bonded to collect here and they don't.

I'm in Cali also and am about to start dealing with a couple of CAs, so I'd be interested in comparing notes...
