It's clear to me, through the multitude of posts, and through personal experience in court, that the big three CRAs are systematically victimizing consumers by accepting derogatory information from OCs and CAs with little or no investigation or evaluation of accuracy. It's further clear to me that when consumers dispute the accuracy of information in their CRs, the CRA's first reaction is typically to place the burden of proof of accuracy on the consumer rather than the OCs ... and the CRA's themselves. And when CRAs refuse to delete or correct the inaccurate information, they are in violation of laws, resulting in damages to the consumer. Why not sue; not necessarily as a class action, but as hundreds (or thousands) of individual lawsuits? This has been done in such cases as securities investment swindles, Fen Phen cases and others. I'm not soliciting business for lawyers, but in my line of work, I have regular contact with attorneys who specialize in large volume cases like this. I'd be more than happy to implement a database of people who've been wronged by CRAs; the specific facts; the relevant CRA, etc. I'd then consult with the appropriate firm. Something like this would certainly get the attention of CRAs. It would also ultimately expose the cozy little relationships with CRAs and OCs and how it has a disparate impact on consumers.
