When you sent your letter to Chase to remove the extra acct listing from your reports did they do so? I have the same situation and I am wondering if I'll be wasting my time sending the letter. No help from them over the phone. Thanks for your response.

    The short answer is NOPE

It sort of peeves me, because one of the accounts was actually an upgrade (from Gold to Plat) and most CCCs only report that as one. The other one
is a closed account (I combined 2 accounts) So now I have 4 Chase accts reporting.

Why wouldn't they *unclutter*? The accounts have perfect payment histories.

I sent them the letter that was posted here. I really thought it would work. But both Chase and Nordstroms ignored it. :(

Thank you for answering. I am sorry to hear this. I agree w/ you. EX and TU seem to be able to update the merged accts. EQ is another story. They keep verifing the extra Chase acct. saying that Chase verifies it. Chase of course makes it hard to send the update to the CRA telling me to write a letter. But-sounds like these letters are ignored.

BTW-congrats on getting that inq. removed. Both Nordstroms and Neimans have recent hards on my rpts for long opened accts and at this point I have given up.

    Thanks Mandy--

When I checked my Exp report this morning, the inquiry is gone! I'm happy.

This is why they didn't want us to see our scores. 15 months ago, I would have shrugged off that inquiry
as a promotional error and never even considered that it might hurt my score.

I still think Exp takes off way too many points for legit inquiries. 6 points are a lot. I don't think that Eq or TU penalize as heavily for them.

My last Exp hard will fall off in Oct. I am curious to see if my score changes. (According to simulator it will)

I think it is silly. Why should one single inquiry from
almost 2 years ago make my score lower?

Couldn't agree w/ you more about the thought that inqs. shouldn't have such an effect on scores. I cringe to think of the rpt I received from EX in 2000 that had tons of hards from places I never applied for credit. For example, Ames which if you don't have one in your area, Ames makes KMart look high class. I don't even think that they offer a cc. And Providian seemed to be really interested in me too. Since I didn't know that this was a problem for me credit wise, I just let these inqs. go and thankfully they have fallen off my rpt.
But I am glad that you were able to prevail on your situation.
