Just saw the morning show and they had a small segment on The growing problem with CAs making threats and using alot of verbal abuses to people who alledgingly owe debts...Had alot or recordings of the verbal abuses that people have taken by the CAs. One company was CAMCO.. This company had so many violations that they were about to be raided by the FBI or one of the goverment agencies. Anyway when the agency went to the building, there was no one there. All the employees had fled like the Rats they are.Leaving everything intact.Just like if they had left for the weekend.. This company had been looking thru the phonebook calling anybody with similiar names of the alledged debtors and making severe threats to who ever they talked to.. After seeing this and having similar problems some years back. I,m glad I started Recording all conversations with CAs even though its very rare they call me anymore...Luckily in my state I dont have to tell them they are being recorded.. I use to tell them that I had to get my recorder turned on but that always got a hang up by them. That will scare most newbie collectors..If the conversation is going the way of the Bad I make sure its recording and try to get them to repeat what they said just for clarifiaction. So for anybody new to learning about Credit repair and CAs. Read all you can about the laws and use them to your advantage.Dont run scared.Fight Back..And by all means Dont repeat finanacial mistakes.Learn from them the first time. frioguy
The last I had heard about CAMCO was that they were shut down in December of 2004. After that there was some article about their "assets" (portfolio of OOS debt) being sold by the court appointed receiver. This always struck me as kind of like the government quandry in how to handle the assets of the Mustang Ranch bankruptcy, since FTC had alleged that up to 80% of CAMCOs revenue had come from collections either not owed, or from consumers who did not owe it, making the main "assets" highly tainted. Was the raid, shown on the TV show you are referring to, the one done back then, or did CAMCO continue in some form after that point?
The Morning show made it seem like it had been recent and its the first time I,d ever heard of camco personally..But i couldnt say for sure.I had tuned in just as they had started the segment..At the end of it They had a women on there telling about how to stop the CAs from calling and stating some of the things CAs cannot legally say to you.. Needless to say the segment was very interesting. frioguy
