We've used this hospital before many times. And we've had accounts with them. But can they pull a cr? I didn't apply for credit with them, just services..........

If you are on a payment schedule with them, they very well may pull a report to see if you are a viable risk for a payment schedule instead of demanding payment at time of services. I would look very carefully at all the documents you signed and intialed at the time of said services. If you didnt sign anything granting permission to run a report, they have no right.. But I was just recently in the hospital, and remember all the forms I had to sign and intial.. good lord.. I could have signed my house away at 4am... with the flu..
You apply for cell phone service, they pull a report.. along with Satelite TV will pull a credit report.. all for services.. They want to know if they can trust you, to pay them back after the service has already been done.. Unless you prepay for everything including services.. you are asking for credit.
ARE THEY GIVING YOU A LOAN??? ARE THEY GIVING YOU A CREDIT CARD??? I always DEMAND the HOSPITAL/LAB/DOCTOR/DENTIST/WHO-EVER present a bill at the end of the service that I pay on my credit card before leaving... Then they are NOT a creditor of any kind...THEY CAN'T LEGALLY PULL ANY CREDIT REPORTS!!! Not that they need it...BUT I never give them my SS#

They can not an have no right to pull your credit report I wish I could go to your hospital.. Cause here in Illinois, if you go to the hospital your turning over that SSN especially if you dont have insurance.. cause they can not always supply you with a bill right when your leaving.. after all it is not a dry cleaner.. Some lab tests can take up to a week to get back.. and the costs arent always known at that immediate time by the nurse or doctor.. I suppose if you want to wait for a couple rather several hours.. to get a statement that evening from the accounting department you can.. And not many people can afford to throw 1k much less several thousands of dollars on a credit card.. be thankful you can. All the above is stated in regards to prvt hospitals and ER rooms.. I am not sure how public or state funded Er or hospitals work.. In Illinois.. Prvt hospitals are business's and as in any business they need to have some type of way of teracking you down and getting their money You own a cell phone.. They ran your credit.. That isnt a loan or a credit card.. its a service.. These companies need some type or recourse to get their money back incase a person backs out of paying for something that is already done.. Dont they?? If it wasnt for credit for services.. We all would have to prepay for our phones, cable service, gas, water, electricity.. all of which are services.. many of which depending on where you live pull a credit report

You can I am happy for you.. But my point orginally was if the situation was that you were in need to be making a payment schedule. I am not going to bicker with you.. What are the police after you too, are they in charge of billing at the hospital. Do you think they care if you stick the hospital with a bill.
