Can a Power Co. pull my CR??

I turned the power on in my new apartment and the power company pulled my CR from Equifax. Is that legal or should thery give me $1000???

Did they ask your permission on the phone?

Maybe something like "Let me see if you will have to place a deposit", that means let me pull you report.

They should tape all there calls. If they did not ask it is a violation.

THEY CAN PULL---BUT THEY DON'T HAVE TO!!!!!

They can ask for a DEPOSIT...

They can ask for a LETTER OF REFERENCE...

I WOULD PAY A DEPOSIT BEFORE I WOULD LET THEM PULL!!!

I would even pay $500 "ADVANCE PAYMENT" run a <CREDIT BALANCE> for a period of time...

If you're trying to establish service with a utility, then they have a permissible purpose to request your credit file to verify that you are who you say you arem and what your credit is like so that they can determine what terms to offer, whether to require a deposit, etc.
