Let's say I'm the sole shareholder in a s corp. NY.

Can money in the bank that my corp. owns be garnished?

Nope, as long as it's in the Corporate name. That's why you set up the corporation in the first place - to separate your creditors from your business income.

Is this true for any state? Does the type of entity matter? i.e llc, corp., etc.

AS long as you keep the business transactions separate from your personal (in other words, don't pierce teh Corporate veil) it should work in every state.
