can ca move date of last activity?

    I paid a collection in jan 03, for a 20.00 check from 1997 to purchase a house, that was being reported on my credit. date of last activity was november 1997.. Looked at my credit report, and the date has been changed to jan 2003.. Is this legal? can I sue? PLs help...

    They never take it off the report when we make it right so why should we take it off the docket when they do??

    You will have to dispute with the CRA before you can sue.

    -YES. it is legal. The date of last activity was 2003 right?

    -"Date of last activity" is NOT the same as "date of original delinquency", which is the start of the 7 year reporting period.

    November 2004 would have been the SOL date for reporting (it should fall off in December 2004).

    Now, depending on the CRA, you need to see if they list the date of the delinquency. If not, you need to ask them if they can tell you the date that the trade line is supposed to remain until.
