I PAID (3) COLLECTION ACCOUNTS IN FEB 2003. DLA WERE 2/1997, THEY UPDATED RECENTLY TO 2/2003. IS THAT LEGAL TO CHANGE DLA? SHOULD I HAVE NOT EVEN PAID THEM? I THOUGHT THE DLA WAS THE DATE THE ACCOUNTS WENT 180 DAYS IN THE AREARERAGE.. PLEASE HELP ME IF YOU CAN...THANKS IN ADVANCE...

Yes. Activity is just that...activity. A payment is activity. However, activity does NOT equal date of delinquency. The date of deliquency determines how long the debt will remain listed. This can NOT change based on a payment to a CA.

7 years after 2/97 is about now. It should be due to drop off.

I CALLED NCO, AND THEY SAID THE DATE WAS MOVE DUE TO THE PMT BEING MADE IN JAN 03. IS AN ITS LETTER APPROPRIATE FOR THIS KIND OF ACTION. I DISPUTED THE 20TH OF JAN 2004, AND THE RESULTS CAME BACK WITH A CHANGED DLA. CAN I GO AFTER BOTH CSC, AND NCO, OR I AM WASTING MY TIME?

If you have your old reports handy, the send them to the CRA's and say "account is obsolete and being illegally reaged by data furnisher". If NCO verifies, off to small claims with them.

In my first post, I got the date of last activity mixed up with the date of status.

Typically the DLA = date of deliquency (my mistake).

Are you sure the date of status was not updated?

Like TransUnion, they list a status date and an "updated" date...both of which would change when you made your payment. TU does not list the DLA nor does EXP.
