We have an account in good standing (2nd mortgage) with Citifinancial. The interest is at about 13% but I can live with that until I get this credit mess straighted out. A week or so ago, the local rep called and left a message that he wanted to talk to us, blah blah but I knew payments were up to date so I figured something else was up. He wanted me to look into getting a lower rate (with more cash, which I didn't want and told him so) but I did say I'd like to get the rate down a little. He was going to get his facts together and call me. Well, when he called, the rate he offered was 14% (duh, this would be an increase) and then stated that he "sees now that we already have a better rate than this". Then several days later get a loan application rejection letter from Citifinancial. I'm guessing anytime now we'll have a new inquiry from them. Can they just do that? Would that be a hard or soft inq? Just wondering if I can dispute and delete that?? Thanks!
