I put Cyberdefender anti-virus about a year ago, and it has worked well in the sense that it seems to have prevented 2 virus infections and seems to clean out a trojan or malware once a week from my system. I got tired of the pop-ups telling me the features I would have if I got the paid version so I did and have been happy. Now, I read that some viruses and trojans that you get, can actually find confidential personal ID information on you computer like SSN or credit card info, and send it to scammer who then can rip you off? Is this true? If so, is Cyberdefender enough protection?
Any information would be very helpful to me.If anyone knows anything please let me know.Thank you.....
The type of program you're referring to is a keylogger. It does exactly what the name suggests -- it records every key you press. More sophisticated keyloggers also take screen captures, which for all practical purposes is like someone having a camera pointed at your screen and keyboard 24x7. The best defense is to be smart. Don't download any of those "FREE RINGTONE" or "FREE MOVIE DOWNLOADS" nonsense applications. If someone you know forwards you an email with an attachment, be wary. If someone you DON'T know forwards you an email with an attachment, don't open it. If you ever receive an email from your bank telling you that your account has been compromised, don't open it; go directly to your bank's website instead. A good antivirus / antispyware program is critical. I personally use AVG Antivirus (free) and have never had a problem. How computer savvy are you? If you've got a spare computer to play with, maybe you should consider running Linux instead of Windows. Ubuntu is a version of Linux that is very easy to use (works just like Windows), free, and is mostly immune to viruses, keyloggers, spyware, and the like.
I don't know anything about running a Linux system; I'm not that computer savy. That sounds like it might be a lot of trouble to switch your entire operating system though. I installed Cyberdefender a couple of months ago, and really like it. I know what you're talking about I used the free version for a while too, until I couldn't stand the annoying pop-ups anymore. I opted to get the $24 upgrade too, and I've been very happy with it too. I have not had any problems/viruses since I installed it, but it did clear a few malware that tried to infect my system. I also like the MyIdentityDefender toolbar on my IE that tells me when a site or google link may be risky. I feel very confident that I have great security with this software.
I am so glad I found some other Cyberdefender users!!! I found an article in PC Mag about this LiveTech service by Cyberdefender. Google PC MAG LiveTech to see the full article which reviewed how it worked and it's features. This LiveTech service is different, because that they offer - for $239 â?? to 'give your computer an initial diagnostic and fix any problems found. Then any time you need tech help, day or night, you can call on them. They'll get your printer installed, clean up pesky malware problems, optimize your PC's performance, and more...' I would be willing to pay for is someone to deal with my uncle, who is calling me every time he has a computer problem which is about once a month. For $200, LiveTech might be a good solution and gift from him. The article mention that the service is remote control, is that like 'Remote Access'? Do you think it is secure? Now, the article didn't test the service, so do any of you have any experience with Livetech?
I suggest you use iMac, although it's kinda expensive but you will absolutely feel more comfortable and having a "peace of mind" is so priceless. I use iMac for my creative job and I never encountered any computer viruses when I'm browsing the net.
