I have been an MBNA America customer for about 7 years. I got the card when I was 18 and a dumb college student. I ran into "difficulty" paying during school and in 99 I had several late pays (2 30 days and 1 60 day). Ever since then I have been paying on time and they have inceased credit limit from 2000 to 7500 and interest rate went down from 23% to 9.9%. I have heard that if you've been an outstanding customer that you can call the card company and ask if they could stop reporting the late payments. Is this true and if so, does anyone have any experience? Thanks for your help!
THEY ARE VERY CONFUSING... I have been a customer for 10+ years and they REFUSE to give me lower than 11.99% (QUANTUM)!!! Refused to increase the credit limit in the past 6+ years!!! ...BUT THEY GIVE "NEW" CUSTOMERS 0.00% FOR MANY MONTHS (9?) AND A BETTER "GO-TO" THAN MINE!!!
I believe the word your looking for is a "Goodwill Adjustment", I not sure how MBNA is with this but with the history you stated I don't see why they won't help you. I'd probably try and would recommend sending a letter via PFB (PlanetFeedBack.com). Goodluck
Sent goodwill statement for my wife to MBNA. Two days later they pulled a "hard" inquiry! I'm a little pissed. I have yet to hear from them.
Thanks for the advice. I wrote out the letters last night and will be mailing them today. I decided not to use PlanetFeedback only because I want to make sure that MBNA receives and replies. In my experience with them, not every company likes to respond to PlanetFeedback letters. Although I would happily post the letter I sent on PFB if they'd allow you to copy and paste into that dumb box! <g>. Don't get me wrong, I love PFB (I'm a commentator) but sometimes it just doesn't work.
Reporting lates is their twisted view of customer appreciation! Folks must like being played for a fool.
