Can I close an account the day the annual fee is scheduled to hit my account ? I am closing FCNB and I called and was told that the card will be 1 year the 1st of May...I want the points for having an account opened for exactly one year but I do not want to pay the annual fee...Can I get around this ?? I want to do the same thing in June with CCB

Just pay in full a couple of weeks before that date...when that date comes...CLOSE IT...tell them "I PAID THIS OFF ALREADY...SO PLEASE CREDIT THE ANNUAL FEE ON MY ACCOUNT"

...MORE...if you really don't want to DUMP the card~~~"I WOULD KEEP THE CARD IF YOU MADE IT NO ANNUAL FEE"

...and while your at it...ask for a credit limit increase...

I emailed FCNB today to see if they will dump my annual fee.I told them i would close the account if the annual fee was not waived.
I'll let everyone know how it goes...

Good idea..They probably will not be able to close the card until the 2nd of May..I just hope and pray that after I close the account and pull my bureau it does say that the account was closed in May and not April
