Can I dispute due to wrong name?

    Hi everybody......

Well, with the help of this board, my credit repair process is in full swing. Now that most of my collections are coming off, I am beginning to take a hard look at 2 recent charge-offs (2 credit cards).

Neither creditor will negotiate deletion/unrated status for payment in full. One of them has my last name horribly misspelled. I'd like to use this as leverage to negotiate with so my question is whether this is a situation where they can simply change the name on the account once they know my true last name (I have been corresponding with them using the pronunciation of this incorrect spelling until I know my next step) OR can I use this as leverage for negotiation OR can I dispute on this basis with the CRAs?

    Thanks,

    Tom
