I have a chapter 7 BK that is over 7 years old. Does anyone have any ideas to have it removed? Should I try some of the easier things on the credit report first? Also how long does old address's suppode to stay on your report?
A BK 7 will remain for 10 years from the date you filed for BK. It will be almost impossible to remove. With Experian old addresses stay forever. The other two CRA's I believe keep just your last address or two years worth of addresses.
All you can do is give it a try. I disputed with TU and they deleted the BK7 and 3 or 4 of the 5 accounts in the BK. Just try it and see what happens, but never, ever send them a single piece of paperwork that validates your BK. Good luck
Wondergirl, Actually ANYTHING can be removed from your report, it's all a matter of timing and a little luck. If you want to remove the BK7 (public notice) you will first need to start working to delete all the "included in bankruptsy" tradelines. The reason you need to start here first is because the CRA's are notorious for simply checking one of those creditors on the report to find out if you filed BK and not actually check the public records themselves. If you are lucky enough to get those tradelines deleted, then your chances are allot better you will get the BK7 public item removed next. Good Luck, Sal
Wondergirl, I had my BK 7 removed from all 3 reports. I recommend, if you can wait a few months, to do it during the holidays. I learned from and EQ rep that bankruptcies have to be verified IN WRITING--they are not done electronically. So, with mail time, etc., they will probably not be able to do it within 30 days. Also, a 7 yr old. Ch. 7 is now archived and not at your local BK court. I filed in NY State--my Ch. 7 was archived in Missouri. I had attempted to request it once, for a certified copy, and they were unable to locate it! A few months after the deletions, it miraculously reappeared, and I was able to get a copy of it. Good luck! cariba
