Can I sue out-of-state college?

Ok. I'm having some difficulty determining which court has jurisdiction.

I would like to sue a college that I attended for a non-permissible purpose credit inquiry.

At the time this happened, I lived in VA, but the college is in IL. The college does not conduct any business in VA, and has no "registered agent" in VA.

Can I sue using the FCRA in Virginia? I believe that is where the injury occured, since it was to my credit report and I reside in VA. (of course, they committed the offense in IL.)

    Any comments?
