    Get this!

I applied for a line of credit at a department store, and was denied. I recieved the credit denial letter in the mail today. They pulled TransUnion to make the choice grant or deny credit.

I read the letter from household bank, and it states on my credit report that I delcared chapter 7 bankruptsy! Which I did not do! I pulled a merged report and got the details. There was an old credit card that I paid off and closed. Experian, and Equifax are reporting it correctly, Paid in full with a zero balance. TransUnion says "Chapter 7 Bankruptsy" in the comments for that particular creditor. Can I leagally sue for damages, if so WHO do I sue.

You first have to dispute the erroneous entry with TU. They should then verify its correctness with whoever reported it, or remove it. Request a paper copy of your report directly from TU, so you can refer to their report number in your dispute. Send a copy of your adverse action notice from Household, and request that TU send you a free report copy since you have been rejected for credit.

If it isn't removed, you might then go after whoever reported or verified it.
