I ahve been fighting a collection agency for validation of debts, they have between 4-6 entries on my reports, they have not responded to any of my validation attempts, these are all paid accounts from 1998. Instead of validating these, they went to the bureaus and added accounts there from 1998 that were not already reported. For example, I had one account that was showing on Experian, but not on Equifax. They inserted the same account from Experian onto Equifax with a date of 5-2002, this is a paid collection from 1998, needless to say, scores have dropped considerably. They have done this to all 3 bureaus, inserting accounts from 1998 that were paid. They are trying to screw with me instead of validating and I have no idea what to do. Now, I have 7 years to look at a debt that was paid in 1998? Please help, I am so freaking mad!

Short answer "YES, YOU CAN SUE"... long answer: You need to make sure you have crossed your t's and dotted your i's evidence wise. Make sure you have the validation/Estoppel letters, CRR receipts etc...from the validation process. Also make sure you have evidence of disputing these entries with the CRA's (also send procedural requests, so you can prove who is at fault). Finally have the information ready that you need to demonstrate that you paid the accounts as well as the prior CRA reports showing the blatant duplication of entries and changing of dates...and then you can sue. ) LOL -Peace, Dave
