Hello everyone! I really appreciate this board, and I'm new, so hopefully I can get great help!! I have been working diligently for the past 6 months to remove derogs from all 3 reports. I have successfully gotten 4 items deleted with 8 to go! My mom has AAA credit. She and I were talking and she is willing to add me on as an authorized user on 2 major Platinum cards with at least $10,000 limit each (which she pays in full each month). My questions are: When she requests to add me on, can I be denied based on my credit? What if I get the cards, but cut them up and don't use it....will her usage and payments go on my credit report (showing possitive)? If so...does that improve my FICO?? This may all be far fetched...but I thought I would ask if it's worth the shot!!! Thanks in advance for your input!!

My mom added me on some accounts and I got the whole history of her accounts. It shows they were opened when she actually opened them and I had her add me on accounts with high CL and low debt so it wouldn't show me in too much debt :) Good Luck

No. They don't even need your SS#, but somehow they mysteriously show up on your credit reports.

Yes, if they do report AU's, you will see all of her activity. The limits will be counted, they'll show opened on the date she opened them.

If so...does that improve my FICO??
YES. It really depends on where you are at now, but you'll have increased limits, lower debt ratio, postive aged tradelines.

Thank you !!!! I just read on another post that it is better to be added as a secondary cardholder VS an authorized user....if we do it that way...is there a risk that I will be denied? My mom has always paid on time and has been a "customer" for at least 5 years...

    Thanks!
