Had 2 charges with CCB (I must thrive on "pain!"). One is now charge off with NCO (just validated it, have not yet spoken with or heard from them yet) and the other was current, paid on time with no problems but when problems ensued with charge #1 these idiots went and closed my good and timely charge #2. Am still paying timely until balance is paid in full on charge #2 Question: Since these jerks closed the good account only because of the #1 bad charge (long story re #1 which I have posted about in the past) can they still charge me the $59 annual charge renewal fee? They just did and claim that is normal. How can someone close your charge and still demand you pay for the card (annual fee). Doesn't closing the account stop that??
If you figure out a way to beat CCB- let me know. I have a charged off account with them- that I have sent two settlement letters that they declined. They will accept the $$ on both-but will not change the TL or delete.
If I were in your shoes I know what I would do. I would force NCO to pay the bill and the both of them to take it off whether they liked it or not. That's what I would do.
Have you ask Nco to validate? Did you know this is 2 black marks on your credit maybe even 3? What amount does NCO claim?
Re: Re: Can OC do this??? lbrown59 and bbauer: Thanks guys for the input. Yes, both are on my credit report. NCO has not yet contacted me since I received the green card back on this past Friday. I am going to dispute with credit bureaus thact account isn't mine in the meantime. (Is that right, even tho the acct. is mine??). Am a little confused bbauer by your statement in re "Have NCO pay the bill......" Do you mean insist that the OC and CA delete the renewal charges off. I was hoping to get the CA to drop a lot more than that, such as the humongous amount of money accrued thru the late fees, over limit fees and exorbitant interest added thereon. Any advice much appreciated.
Re: Re: Can OC do this??? Pay the bill they were trying to make you pay in it's entirety and remove all mention of the debt from all records both public and private wherever they may exist. All of that. NCO will violate the law and your rights. As always, it is up to you to know the law and know your rights. If you know the law it will protect you. If you do not know the law and do not know your rights then the only rights you will have left are those the other fellow is willing to give you. There is no requirement that they must at all times protect you and your rights over theirs. It is up to you to know the law and use it to whatever advantage you might be empowered to do by the law. And no, that does not mean you have to become a lawyer in the process. All you have to do is to learn the laws that they are most likely to violate and that will be more than sufficient to catch them in the act and force them to do your bidding most of the time. Collection agencies have no desire to fight with anybody. They work on collecting the most amount of money they can in the shortest possible time. They cannot do that if they let themselves get into fights with those who know the law and are willing to fight if need be. They will normally just get you out of their hair in the easiest way possible and move on to easier pickings. Many people are frightened to death by what they think I teach but the truth is that it is most normally simple, easy to understand and put into practice and has a very high rate of success. Further more it is usually fairly quick to do. Most problems are resolve in a matter of maybe 3 to 5 months max. How well and how fast you can get the job done is up to you for the most part. Pay careful attention to small details and record keeping and keep things on a tight time schedule and it is usually over and done with at an early date. Learn a few facts, mail a few letters and most of the time it's all done.
Re: Re: Can OC do this??? Thankyou. As I said, I have validated, received green card and will now dispute with CRAs. Then I will take pen and pencil and record every detail from this point on (and am sure I'll be calling on you in the near future!). LRM
Re: Re: Can OC do this??? Have fun with those credit bureaus. Any time you ask me for help I will do what I can.
Re: Re: Can OC do this??? 1*I am going to dispute with credit bureaus that account isn't mine. 2* (Is that right, even though the acct. is mine??). 3*Am a little confused bbauer by your statement in re "Have NCO pay the bill......" 4*Do you mean insist that the OC and CA delete the renewal charges off. 5*I was hoping to get the CA to drop a lot more than that, 6*such as the hughmongus amount of money accrued thru the late fees, over limit fees and exorbitant interest added thereon. LRM216 ================ 1*Ok 2*The account isn't legally yours until or unless the CA properly validates, which isn't too likely. 3*If memory serves me right Bill used to call this Making The, CA Eat the Debt. 4*He means much more than that. 5*Eating the debt is making the CA do a whole more than that. 6*Makeeing the CA eat the debt will accomplish all that and more.
