I had a account with Providian that was charged off with me owing 1,052.00. They sold the account to RMA , RMA and I came to a settlement amount of 684.04. After I paid this amount , I called to get them to send me a letter stating that the account was settled. They are now telling me that In order to get the balance of this charged off account to read 0, I need to send them the rest of the money 378.00. I thought that when you settled they were saying that they will accept a lesser amount in order to pay this account off.
... and when you called RMA and mentioned your settlement offer you had in writing... what did they say? SK
Even when you settle an account, they can still list the remaining amount on your CR...unless you get an agreement in writing stating otherwise before you pay.. jmart
