I have a TL with AFNI Inc on my credit report for $234.00 and i would like to pay to have this removed. I called them on the phone and talk to a Sr Rep today (btw i didnt give her any info on me, so dont freak out) but she said they couldnt pay to have an item removed. This puzzles me because i have read a couple of post that people have paid for removal with AFNI. Is my approach wrong here or what? I havent sent AFNI any validation letters yet. Can someone help guide me on this one, its the last Trade line on my CR that is negative if i get it removed i will be golden. 800 bound!!! thanks in advance.
Since you are dealing with Afni, are you even sure it is your account, and if so, are you sure it is from when they say, and are you sure you actually owe what they say? There have been MANY complaints against them in the last few months (in the hundreds, thru bbb.org, ripoffreport.com, and complaintsboard.com, among other sites) from consumers contacted by them, mostly on debts that were not theirs thru erroneous skip-tracing, or if theirs, the consumer knew the account had been paid and closed years ago, or in some cases the consumer even verified with the original creditor that there was no outstanding debt in their name. Most reports are regarding debts so old they would not be legally reportable.
I would say there arent any errors in this TL, just something stupid i overlooked, grrr i'm so mad at myself. I forgot to cancel the cable been when i moved from this location. thanks in advance
How old is this TL? When did it first show up on your CRs? When did they first notify you of this debt? Have you made a written request for validation of this account to ANFI? I would suggest a couple of things here: 1) Make a written request to ANFI for validation of the debt, make sure you write in the letter that you dispute this debt, and request copies of their correspondence to you, 2) Try to pay the cable company directly, tell them that you did not receive a last bill, or something to that affect, and wish to take care of this bill. Investigate all the actions and steps taken by ANFI, I am sure they committed a "foul" somewhere in these events, and you can call them on it. Lastly, work both ANFI and the cable company in trying to get this removed, the "squeaky wheel DOES get the oil"!
First let me say thanks for the response to my post. The TL DOLA is march 2002 as is reported by Afni on all three of my CR. I have disputed them as not mine to all 3 CRA and they all came back verified. I call Charter and explain to them that i didnt get the last bill and totally forgot which is why I never paid. The lady felt really bad but said its off to collections and i would have to contact AFNI to handle it, although it seemed to me that i could actually pay Charter directly but I told them I didnt think that would help getting the neg TL removed from Afni, Inc. It makes me mad to know that i did this its only $223.00 after collects fees. grrrr Anyhow its the last thing on my CR and my scores are all low 700s, and i believe once this is gone i'll be close to 800, which is so awesome when not many years ago i was mid 500s. This board, ROCKS!!! I wish this damn TL was gone, please help or maybe someone can point me towards somone that can help. thanks talk to you soon
