Here is the story.. I applied for target. I later was denied b/c they couldn't prove my address (I had just bought my house). So... I sent them my utility bill and etc. I called them back on to find that they had never got it. So, I sent it to them again to reconsider along with my letter....I told them I did not want them to pull my CR again. Called them back..... The rep put me on hold and come back to tell me I was approved. NOW.. I told her at the beginning of the converstaion I didn't want my CR pulled. I was only persuing this b/c my CR had already been pulled and I felt I should of got the card. That afternoon I got an e-mail where they pulled my CR.

So, I called back and got a mailing addres to write to about the inquiry. I sent the letter CRRR. The 12th of this month makes 30-days. I have yet to hear from them. I want to send them a follow up letter but have NO clue what to say. Can someone please help me with what I should put into my letter.

    Thanks in advance

Unfortunately as much as the time frame "30 days" gets talked about here, it has nothing to do with your situation. You would be better off sending a letter PFB to them explaining that your report was pulled twice for your new card (dont go into the discussion about the fact that you had to go through "reconsideration" unless they bring it up). Keep it simple and say you are a new customer and want this to be a great new relationship but feel jaded by the double whammy on your score these duplicated inquiries cause.

I would also call the CS# on the card and talk to a rep...tell him/her that you just got your report and saw this and was hoping they could direct you to someone who will help you fix this obvious mistake. Act like it must have been a glitch in their system and ABOVE ALL don't get upset...if they seem unwilling to help at all, tell them "oh someone must be at the front door, I will have to call you right back" and hang up...wait 10 minutes and call back for another rep and try this 3 or 4 times.

    Good Luck.

Did you give them a deadline in your first letter?

What would such a self imposed deadline get you? Is there a legal basis for stating such a deadline?

PS You have 30 seconds to respond to this post or else :))

gee, did I miss the 30 seconds? So sue me!

If I send a letter to a company that screwed me I'll tell them I expect a reply by x date. If they don't reply I move on to the next step. I think the law is 'reasonable amount of time' 3 months is not reasonable to reply to a letter even if the reply is "we are researching your issue, we will reply in x days" or whatever.

3 weeks is a reasonable amount of time to get SOME kind of response from a company.

Send another letter, CRRR, reference your first letter, and give them a deadline.

    Just my humble opinion.

I agree with you PAE, you are correct. A reasonable amount of time is expected for a response to such a letter, in any "professional" organization.

My point is that it really is not a "line in the sand" you know (such as the FCRA 30 day violation for response to a dispute).

And I will settle out of court for the 30 second violation for lets say... 11 cents LOL...Do you have paypal :))

Well, I have paypal, but I only have 3¢ in it...

    :D

I agree with you about the law not giving a set time limit, but if you word it right, you can set your own time limit. I find that most companies can't work without a deadline... It's just not in their blood.

2 INQUIRES IN 30 DAYS IS DUPLICATE...PLEASE REMOVE.
CALL BOTH DUPLICATE...maybe they will remove BOTH...

Yes, I told them I was giving them 30-days from CRRR. The 12th marks 30-days.

George, that was/is a good idea. however, the inquires where over 30-days.
