I wanted to know if the same lien can be placed on the same bank account twice? There was a judgment against me but it was vacated in July contingent on resuming payments. I haven't been able to resume payments because I haven't been able to find a job yet. I informed the courts and they advised me to work it out between ourselves first and if that doesn't work then come back to court. The CA hasn't been willing to work anything out and I'm afraid that they will try to get another default judgment against me. I have been able to scrouge up $50 of the $330 I owe (payments were set at $110 monthly). Can I send that in as a show of good faith until I can secure work and how can I find out if they have started proceedings against me?
Well, they can't get a default judgment unless you don't show up in court. I can't believe they'd fool with a judgment over $300.
I should have clarified better. My mistake. I owe about $4400. When the judgment was vacated in July, payment were set at $110 monthly starting i September to give me a chance to find a job. I didn't find a job by then or now so I missed three payments so far totalling $330. Understand now? So Can the same lien be placed on the same bank account again?
1. To be precise, we are probably talking about a bank account levy. 2. There are exemption limits to bank account levys except for the taxing authorities. The exact amount depends on your state. You are probably safe if your bank account balance is under a $1000. 3. Bank accounts can be levyed more than once.
