On my Equifax CR this is the listing:

Co. Name: Lab. Corp. of America
    Date Opened: xx/1999
    Last Activity: xx/2001
    Type of Acct: Open
    Status: Charge-Off
    Balance: $XXX
    Date Reported: xx/2002
    Prior Paying History: Charged-off acct.

I know who Lab. Corp. is because we had dealings with them about 6 years ago. We had a few small disputed bills that they billed us for instead of filing with our insurance, and we refused to pay them. In mid-99, my dh lost his job and our insurance. I was pregnant and qualified for state medicaid in 6/99. According to what's on the CR, I can't have owed anything to Lab. Corp. in xx/99 because all medical expenses were paid by the state. Last activity could NOT have been '01 because I've never paid ANYTHING to them. Can I dispute this listing on my CR?

    You can dispute anything.

If it were me, I would send them a validation letter, and once it is received, then dispute.

LOL! Maybe I should have asked, "should" this be disputed?

I'll have to read up on how to do a validation letter.

If you look in the sample letters section of the site you will see numerous letters (including validation) that you can customize to fit your needs. Good luck
