    Moya,
It was that thread that convinced me that I did not need more than 3 cards and to try not to revolve a balance on more than one card. Once I buy a house I will probably drop to 2 cards. Glad you liked the thread.

I guess my problem is that I have too much revolving credit... maybe I need to start closing accounts...?

    Fabulous discussion.
This shows that you can have great scores with only a few lines but that you can also have great scores with allot of lines or like me somewhere in the middle.
Now I have some small cards that are rarely used if at all but they contribute to my age of accounts and thus improve my score.
I like the flexibility that having multiple cards gives to me to leverage for better terms, better limits or teaser offers more often by virtue of having there card.

In a practical sense I note that once my scores were over 750 I pretty much get the best offers, most benefits and have come to expect that from my creditors.
Now it was not always like that and not so long ago I only had a few cards not the right mix, limits etcâ?¦ when I traveled I would max a card without care of impact on Fico never defaulted but using just a couple of cards in the eyes of Fico I was a less than prime score, and my offers ,rates and lines reflected that.
This also makes me want multiple lines so that I always have somewhere to BT should the need ariseâ?¦ how many times have we seen people that pay AAA get there accounts closed or jacked for one reason or another.

Point is that Fico is uses multiple models that reward both credit users and those with fewer cards with the right history.

    • My scores are in the 620 - 670 neighborhood, 75% utilization, 30 closed, 12 open accounts, yet I got the AMEX Blue with a $5,000 LOC two weeks ago and the BOA Platinum with a $4,100 LOC yesterday, which makes my total LOC about $88,000 ...

My history started 5 years ago, I have no mortgage, no auto loan, but what I think keeps me up is that I never had any derogs and that I usually do the CCB (credit card bumpage © vghost :) every two years, so when I apply for a CC, I practically have no inquiries.

The only thing I need to jump into the 800 Club is enough money to pay my debts off ...

    • Applying for multiple credit cards at the same time, so they can't see each other's inquiries ... :)

    • I'm sure you know ... I'm just applying the LKH's term "bumpage" to the CCs ... :)
