can you stop a CRA dispute?

Doubt this has ever happened, but can you stop a dispute that you initiated through a CRA once you send it? I did an online dispute through EX for a new debt, Sherman Acquisitions, who purchased my Sears account. They (Sherman) placed the account with Pioneer credit recovery. I thought that Pioneer credit recovery was owned by Sherman, now I'm guessing they are not.

This account was just purchased from Sears, and I never recieved a letter from Sherman...just Pioneer. I answered Pioneer with a request for validation, which was not answered. Pioneer has not placed this on my reports yet, but Sherman just did.

thinking these 2 companies were related, I disputed through the CRA, EX. Now, I'm thinking I jumped the gun here. If they are not related, then it is a wasted dispute, because if it comes back verified, it won't have to be marked in dispute. I should have also sent Sherman a validation letter and then disputed.

Now with EXPERIAN not allowing any disputes that have already been verified, I won't be able to re-dispute. I'll get EX's same old song and dance answer "this account has already been verified"

Does any of this make sense, and is there any help?

You can probably stop the dispute if it has not been "verified" yet. How long has it been since you entered dispute?

It is probably best to call, and verbally request cancellation of dispute, if this is what you think is best.

You may want to let it stay in dispute to see what happens also. If it is a "neg", why not wait and see?

I'm sure you can stop the dispute, just call, and document all the info re: the call.

    Good Luck

Rereading your post; which CA or acct did you dispute, and what are they posting. I follow your thought pattern, just need a bit more detail.

    Again, Good Luck
