    It comes down to this, 3 accounts (CapitalOne) in collections, I am trying to do anything to pay these accounts (low balances), but only to the ORIGINAL CREDITOR. Paying the collection agencies will get me nothing (i will still have all three chargeoffs on my credit report). I PlanetFeedback'ed them to try to get them to accept payments and got this response:

    <FROM CAPITAL ONE>

    Dear Brian H,

    Thank you for contacting Capital One.

    We appreciate your desire to make payments to your accounts. We regret
    that if our representatives were unable to make payment arrangements, we
    are unable to assist you further via e-mail.

    At the end of each month, the credit bureau is sent an update on the status
    of your account. It is our policy to report all past history on your
    account for 6 years and 11 months; after this period any derogatory
    information is purged from your file.

    We regret any inconvenience this may cause you.

    Sincerely,

    S. Whitfield

    So, now what. In reading this, they have no interest in collecting, just writing off the debt, taking the tax credit and leaving my credit ruined.

    Thanks for the help (especially Joey74, who posted to my other messageThanks

    Cap One keeps adding interest each month...when it comes time to buy a house, etc., and you have to pay this off, you are going to owe alot more than you do now.
