I read that once a credit card chageoff account is sold or transferred to a collection agency, they cannot report the collection for 180days is this true? If I settle with the collection agency b4 180days will it stay off my bureau? Any help appreciated?

    no - wrong thinking.

i settled by entire account 'charged-off' even before it went to the CA. it is still on all three reports.

there is no way to not let them report - unless you negotiate with them before paying off the account. this is what i have learned (from my experience and from this board)

Why was the paid account ever turnend over to a CA in the first placre?
Why is a CA reporting this?

    lb,

It did not come out clear in my earlier post. The account never went to CA. I paid it off to the OC and it is the d.a.m.n OC that is reporting to all three.

OC is Citizens Bank. If you have experience with them, I would like to hear.

I have the account under dispute/investigation with EQ right now. Will see if it comes back...
