As some of you know I closed my Cap one card last week, I only had a 1k limit and I loathe the fact that they don't report limits:(

When I called to cancel they tried to keep me and offered me an increase of 1500, I declined and told them to sent me the confirmation letter stating I closed the account.

Well today I receive a letter giving me one more chance to reconsider, and they offered to up the line to 5K, of course if they would report the limit we could have a deal LOL.

SEND IN A COPY OF THE BILL~~~

If that won't work...DISPUTE it till it is fixed...

"N/A IS NOT MY CREDIT LIMIT...MY CREDIT LIMIT IS $5000"

Wasn't there something about people who have sent in copies of bills, etc. to get their limit reported only for it to disappear when the Creditor updated to the CRAs????

My workaround is to do a balance transfer to the Cap1 card close to it's limit for a month so it will report something near it's true limit on the report....and stick. The do a balance transfer back off of it to another card.

    Would that work for you?

Thanks all. I haven't decided whether to keep or not.

However I do have 3 BT deals just waiting to be used??

    Hey,

I know only you can make the decision to do it or not, but I think it is a o.k. deal, because Capital One is tightening up and cutting limits, whereas you were offered a increase.

They actaully want you as a customer.

It is my understanding that when people now call to close their accounts, they will close the account and not even argue with you, or blink.

I know the not reporting limits hurts, but like George says, dispute it. (I just hope they don't delete the entire account) OUCH!!!!!

    Hi Momof3 !! :)
Pretty amazing - they are definitely realizing the value of customers - and the cost of getting a new one...

I am impressed - I have been happy with them as you know. Amazing they wouldn't bump it the first time - but I bet those REPS have little leverage.

What you gonna do? I never heard of a company asking going to this extent to keep you.....

They do not report my limit - just my high for the month of $39XX - which I paid after it closed to "sort of" post a limit.

Thanks manequinne, I understand your point:)

Hey dog, I am not sure what I am going to do yet, I have 30 days to decide before they officially close it.
